some packages!

Last Thursday I received some special packages.  A small gift for a friend and a bargain for myself -
HALF OFF SALE- Winter Berries Pink and Red Astro Adjustable Ring
gorgeous ring in the sale!

Blue Oasis Desert Dune Post Earrings - Hypoallergenic Surgical Stainless Steel Posts
cute earrings for my friend's birthday!

I love the items this lady designs and would urge you to have a look at her cracking shop Ditty Drops over at Etsy.

I received a fabric package too which is always fantastic!  I have never purchased Amy Butler fabric before and wasn't 100% sure if I would be happy but oh boy I am!  Pefect theme of Love for Valentines day looming too.
I purchased a patchwork palette of a selection of her fabrics from the Love range as I couldn't narrow my yardage choices down at all as I loved it all!  I have started some items already with it and just adore the colours and patterns.  Yummy fabric and such lovely quality too.

Brimming with ideas already!

new things at last!

Well at last my procrastination is over and I have completed something!  A tea cosy but still it is something.

With flash (I prefer)

No flash and poor natural light as very grey day!

I think this tea cosy is going into my etsy shop and I am planning on making matching coasters with the same fabric.  Nothing fancy but maybe quilted with a nice coloured thread.  My dad picked these vintage threads up from a car boot sale and thought I could use them.  There is one called curry!  I will keep the spools once they are used up!

I also started some hand sewing recently using up scraps of red christmas project fabrics.  I love hand piecing hexagons.  I just print off hexagons from the computer (when I have ink in the printer!) and then glue to card and cut them out.  Not perfect but they make me happy just to look at them :)

This is either going to become a hexagon love heart or a large decorative piece??? Still unsure............

INTERESTING INFO - the tub I keep all these wee pieces in is an empty HARIBO tub!  I wonder who ate the contents?  I can't eat just one of those addictive sweeties :(

Anyway I am currently awaiting 2 packages.  Some LOVEly fabric from Amy Butler, more Aurifil, and solid colour.
AND a lovely present for a friend's birthday plus a wee bargain for myself.  Shall post on these once they arrive!
Bye for now. x

Good to be back!

Well I hope we all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!  We had a lovely break with the kids and family.  For once the weather was actually quite mild which was good as last year we were slipping about pavements on black ice on Christmas day.

It has been AGES since I have caught up on the blogosphere.  I am sincerely sorry for my lack of posts.  We were without internet access in our wee town for 10 days due to a mast being down or something.  I use  my smart phone as a modem with my pc for internet access.  It was awful!  The mobile network was barely useable for phone calls let alone internet access.  As I live in Scotland the severe storms caused havoc! Fortunately we only lost a few slates and a bit of rough cast off the chimney.  It could have been much, much worse!!!

So I took a total break from sewing, quilting, etsy etc during Christmas.  The kids were back at school and nursery last week and now I am ready to get back into the swing of things.

My first plan is to tweak my shop a little and add some new tea cosies and coasters.

As well as this I am planning a quilt wall sampler showcasing some bible related blocks.  I will probably do this as a wee QAL so if you wish to take part let me know as I might set up a wee Flickr group or something for it!
Some of the traditional fabrics I plan to use for wall sampler.

So now I am off to drink tea and catch  up on all those excellent blogs I have missed reading!  Take care.
